We are thrilled to announce the launch of our latest initiative aimed at inspiring and empowering girls in the fascinating realms of Science, Technology, Engineering, andMathematics (STEM). With generous funding and capacity support from First Choice Homes Oldham’ s (FCHO) ROCA Grant, we held our first STEM Play day for girls on 21 February 2024. As advocates for gender equality in STEM fields, we believe it’s crucial to nurture interest and confidence in these areas from a young age. That’s why we’re introducing our STEM-based play initiative, designed specifically to ignite curiosity and foster a love for science and technology among young girls.

At its core, our initiative seeks to challenge stereotypes and break down barriers that may deter girls from pursuing STEM subjects. By offering engaging and hands-on activities, we aim to demonstrate that science and technology are not just for boys, but for anyone with a passion for discovery and innovation.

Through a variety of interactive workshops, experiments, and play-based learning experiences, we’re creating a supportive environment where girls can explore, experiment, and problem-solve to their heart’s content. From building robots to coding adventures, our activities are designed to be both educational and fun, sparking creativity and critical thinking skills along the way.

For the launch of this initiative, we partnered with First Choice Homes Oldham and the pioneering organisation, Rochdale Science Initiative (RSI), who are passionate about all things Science. With a whole team of science geeks and a track record of engaging Ethnic Minority communities in STEM fields, RSI have a very unique and exciting approach to sparking the curiosity of young people and encouraging them to explore the world of Science.

Research has shown that early exposure to STEM activities can have a profound impact on a child’s future academic and career choices. By introducing girls to STEM in a positive and engaging way, we hope to inspire the next generation of female scientists, engineers, and innovators. Our ultimate goal is to empower girls to see themselves as capable and confident contributors to the ever-evolving world of technology and innovation.

We are proud to be part of a growing movement dedicated to closing the gender gap in STEM fields. Through partnerships with schools, community organizations, and like-minded businesses, we’re committed to reaching as many girls as possible and providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed in STEM.

Join us on this exciting journey as we work towards a future where all girls feel empowered to pursue their passions and make their mark on the world of science and technology. Together, we can inspire the next generation of female leaders in STEM.
